A Saudi court ordered 14 people from two families lashed 20 times each after they were involved in a fight against each other following the divorce of a wife from one family.
The wife was at home in the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah when her husband came in with a new wife, triggering a heated argument between the couple, according to Okaz Arabic language newspaper.
The husband then kicked his first wife and little son out of the house after beating her up, prompting her to call her family.
“The two families fought each other at the stairs of the house…they were all arrested and taken to court,” the paper said.
It said the judge ordered the lashing of 13 men and one woman and acquitted two old women for their ages.
