DUBAI 9 April 2018: Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the readiness of the General Department of Criminal Investigations and its teams to deal with all cases with professionalism and high speed.
These comments were made in a statement confirming the arrest of a suspect, and his accomplice, over the murder of American businessman, N.G.D, of an Arab origin within four hours of reporting the crime in.
Maj-Gen Al Marri appreciated the efforts of the Data Analysis Center at the General Department of Criminal Investigation and the use latest technologies and systems to identify the perpetrator, in a record time.
He said the use of latest high tech programs at the Center contributed to the speed of arrest and the reveal of all details and circumstances around the murder and its motives.
Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Criminal Investigation, expressed the force’s graduate to His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for he had thanked the force’s members for their dedication and innovation in investigating and arresting the suspects.
He reiterated Dubai Police’s readiness to deal with any incident at all times with utmost accuracy and professionalism.
Commenting on the case, Maj-Gen Al Mansouri explained that the Al Muraqqabat Police Station had received a call from the nephew of the businessman stating that he had lost contact with his uncle while he was in the country.
He added that a field team and other technical team acted swiftly and started to gather information and followed-up the whereabouts of the absentee businessman.
He added that the investigations showed the businessman had frequently been to the country for long periods and used to stay at different hotel rooms, pointing out that the search and investigation teams were able to locate the businessman who was staying in a hotel in the emirate.
Al Mansouri added, “Our teams had informed the Dubai Public Prosecution to get the legal search warrant when they opened the hotel room rented by businessman,” ” Realizing the death of the businessman, Dubai Police officers summoned forensic experts, technicians and biologists of criminal evidence who confirmed the death of the American businessman. Onsite inspections showed that the businessman had been hit by a wooden drawer where he was staying and that he had been dead for about 48 hours.
For his part, Lt Colonel Adel Al Joker, Director of CID at Dubai Police, confirmed that the Dubai Police General HQ assigned all its teams in the field to conduct search to identify the perpetrators. Within four hours, the teams, using artificial intelligence techniques at the Data Analysis Center, identified the perpetrator and his nationality. He turned out to be a 25-year- old Arab visitor who had accompanied the businessman to his hotel room. Dubai Police teams were able to locate the perpetrator’s residence and arrested him in a record time.
During investigations, the offender admitted that he had accompanied the businessman to his hotel room and that he had planned of stealing the victim’s wallet by beating him on the head with a wooden plank of the wardrobe and fled the scene after confirming the victim’s loss of consciousness.
The offender also admitted to stealing a bankcard from the businessman and giving it to his accomplice, a resident Arab, who helped him withdraw some cash from the card.
The case has been transferred to the Public Prosecution in Dubai to complete legal procedures and investigations against the suspects.
