Zero-energy ice offers same glide-effect as conventional ice
DUBAI 19 September 2017: Desert Snow, a specialist winter effects company, and Middle East partner for Glice, a market leader for ecological rinks, has introduced the first-of-its-kind ecological outdoor skating rink in the UAE – where summer temperatures hit close to 50°C.
Glice installed the 200 m2 rink at Next Generation School in Dubai, so that students can get a sustainable taste of ice skating and welcome a sport to their curriculum that is very un-desert-like.
Thanks to a complex molecular technology Glice zero-energy ice functions entirely without the use of water and electricity, while offering the same glide-effect as conventional ice. Hence, Glice ice rinks allow for eco-friendly, climate-independent and cost-efficient installations.
Just five years ago the startup slid into the market for ecological ice rinks and advanced to the rank of industry leader in no time. Glice was co-founded by CEO Viktor Meier.
