Search for UAE’s ‘happiest office’ picks up pace

DUBAI 14 January 2018: The race for the inaugural edition of ‘Happiness at Work’ award in the UAE continues and applications will be accepted from private sector organisations until January 18, 2018, says the organisers.

Sustainable Mindz, a Dubai-based organization for sustainability and corporate responsibility strategies, instituted the award aimed at inspiring happiness and positivity in the UAE companies.

The ‘Happiness at Work’ award is all set to recognize the quotient of happiness existing among the corporate entities of the Mena. The award reiterates the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make the UAE one of the happiest nations on the planet.

Noora Mohammad, Founding Partner of Sustainable Mindz, said, “The ‘Happiness at Work’ award, a first-of-its-kind initiative in in the UAE and the region, was instituted in July 2017. We look at recognising organisations from both private and public sectors that are game-changers, forward-thinking and strive to do things differently by putting their workforce at the heart of its operation.”

Happy Employee

“Our workplace is an integral part of our lives in the UAE hence the acknowledgment of a happy employee being more productive, more energetic and more creative is significant. This Awards will highlight companies, which are making a conscious effort towards creating a happy workplace culture that nurtures, engages employees towards a sustainable future. This Award aims to highlight leading examples of orgnisations that actively look at creating a workplace culture that nurtures and engages employees and reinforces their role in a sustainable future,” she added.

With an impressive lineup of eminent judges, the jury will evaluate participating corporates across five different categories including the:

  1. Best Workplace Wellness Program
  2. Best Workers Welfare Program
  3. Best Employee Engagement Program
  4. Best Work-Life Balance Program
  5. Best Workplace Sustainability Program

The jury will also pick the Happiest Workplace.

The jury comprises of academicians, corporate consultants and experts in the sustainable sector with vast experience on how to integrate sustainability in the workplace. The jury panel includes Dr. Saamdu Chetri, Visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, West Bengal, India; Dr. Mansoor Anwar Habib, Senior Director of Employee Wellness & Happiness at du; Dr. Yasmin Al Bulushi, Dean of Muscat College in Oman; and Jane Fiona Cumming, Co-Founding Partner and Director of Article 13 in the UK.

The Award is open to all the regional private and public-sector companies that propagate positivity and believe that ‘happy employees’ create high performing organizations. Companies can submit their applications under the categories including SME, corporations and public sector.

The ‘Happiness at Work’ award is open for all organizations to participate until January 18, 2018. The winners will be declared in March 2018.
