UAE leaders condole Portugal over fire victims

61 dead, three days of mourning

ABU DHABI 19 June 2017: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a cable to President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa extending condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Portugal, and the families of victims of the forest fires in the Leiria region in central Portugal.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent similar cables to President de Sousa, said Wam.

Three days of mourning has been declared across the country in remembrance of the 61 people who have died in the fires.
